(Ottawa) – This morning, the Ottawa Police Service monitored traffic flow at a number of Government of Canada locations with picket lines or large demonstrations. 

Tunney’s Pasture, Montreal Road, and Centrum Boulevard were subject to traffic congestion during the morning rush hour, and we can expect similar delays in the foreseeable future.

Final arrest made in Elmira Drive homicide

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit has located and arrested a fourth person in the December 6th, 2021, shooting death of John Ndayishimiye on Elmira Drive.

The young person was wanted on a Canada Wide arrest warrant.

He was arrested in Ottawa on April 17 and has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and accessory after the fact to murder. 

He is scheduled to appear in court today.

Serious collision on Kinburn Side Road, police seeking witnesses

(Ottawa) —Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Unit investigators are seeking witnesses to a collision on Saturday, April 15th 2023 that resulted in serious injuries.

At approximately 8:49 am, officers were called to Kinburn Side Road, between Loggers Way and John Shaw Road in response to a collision involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle.

The cyclist, a man in his 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit has charged a man following an investigation into a shooting that occurred on February 18th in the 1-100 block of St Claire Avenue.

On April 15th, the Guns and Gangs Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Unit and the Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT) executed a warrant in the 500 block of St-Laurent Boulevard.

Manock LUAL, 36 years old, of Ottawa was arrested; he remains in custody.

(Ottawa) – Warm weather means more riders commuting on paths, trails, and roadways. The Ottawa Police Service offers some safety tips for cyclists, motorcyclists and motorists. 

Motorists may not be used to seeing bicycles or motorcycles on the roads, so this is a reminder to watch out for them. The rules of the road apply to all road users, and motorists are urged to exercise more care around vulnerable road users, including pedestrians.
