Residents Matter Enforcement Initiative Results: July 19-20

(Ottawa) — Members of the Ottawa Police Service Traffic Escort & Enforcement Unit and frontline patrol officers were out last weekend as part of the Residents Matter (#ResidentsMatter) late-night traffic enforcement initiative.
On Friday, July 19th, officers were deployed to the Barrhaven area. 41 provincial offence notices (PONs) were issued during Friday’s enforcement, including 16 for speeding and seven for improper or no mufflers.

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Unit charged a man following an investigation into sexual assaults that occurred at Ottawa-based programs and schools since 2019. The incidents involved a male victim under the age of 18.

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service is investigating a shooting that occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2024, just before 8:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Clarence Street.
There are no known victims or injuries reported to police, and people had fled the area prior to police arrival.

Warrant obtained for second suspect in shooting homicide on Carling Avenue

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is looking for public assistance to locate a second suspect involved in the shooting homicide on Carling Avenue on July 5th.
A Canada-wide warrant has been obtained for the arrest of Soubere Yusuf AKLI, 28 years old, of Ottawa for First Degree Murder.
He is described as a black male, 6’1” (185 cm), 187 lbs. (85kg) with dark eyes, and dark hair (see photo).
